Opulent mansions are set along the Island's famous Gold Coast, the place that American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald memorialized the lifestyle of a time long ago in his book, The Great Gatsby. If you enjoy shopping, then the "Miricale Mile" that Billy Joel sang about is a row of upscale retail shops called the Americana Manhasset. This once fishing village changed long ago by Dutch settlers who began building homes and usng the surounding area for farming and grazing. Back to Top

The North fork draws thousands of visitors each year for wine tastings, harvest pickings, antiquing, and festivals. The farming and maritime traditions still continue started by the early settlers more than 360 years ago. A vast land of equisite beauty, the North Fork strecthes 28 miles of fertile soil and is surrounded by water on three sides for fishing, and boating. Most of the county's farms and vineyards are located on the North Fork. Where potato farms once were are now occupied by an abundant array of vineyards and more than 20 wineries. Along the countryside you can bring home with you some of the regions most tastey fruits, vegetables, home-made pies, breads, jams and jellies. Back to Top
